Pack 71 was chartered by Covenant Presbyterian Church in
1983. The pack usually meets the third Thursday of each
month in the cafeteria of Hidden Oak Elementary School.
During the late 1980s, Pack 71 grew dramatically due to an
active group of eager Cub Scouts and adult volunteers. The
program now supports several community service events and
pack campouts each year in addition to the normal Blue and
Gold Banquet, Pinewood Derby and Award Ceremonies. In
addition, the Pack sponsors 4 Summertime Events allowing
each Scout an opportunity to earn the Summertime Activity
Pin.
The philosophy of Pack 71 is to create a rewarding,
exciting, safe and FUN environment for boys and their
parents to learn and grow within the structure of the BSA
program. If Scouting is FUN for the BOYS and FUN for the
PARENTS it will be successful. This approach has lead the
Scouts to refer to Pack 71 as "The Cool Pack", a name that
has caught on and spread throughout the district.
Scouting is a great program. Every Pack and Troop is
different but the aims are the same. Look around, if you
don't feel great in one unit, try another. The important
thing is that our boys grow into young men of character.
Scouting will not let you down.
